Weirdo Wednesday – May 11, 2011

May 11, 2011

Continuing with the Weird Websites theme, I have been amazed at the level of weirdness available at the click of a mouse. William Shakespere once posed the question– “To be weird, or not to be weird…” (Or was that Steve Jobs?)

The first weird little website we are going to visit is: Die Screaming with Sharp Things in Your Head. This site is not for the faint of heart, especially if you feel any kinship towards the common garden gnome. This web destination is simply horrific. The whole premise of this despicable site is the show gnomes with all manner of stuff impaled in their heads. The gnomemaster implores its users with the following poetry:

If you see a Garden Gnome,
pick it up and take it home.
Make sure it is really dead;
stick something sharp into its head.

Make sure you check out some of the photos. (If you have the stomach for it!)

There is a condition called, Coulrophobia, which is an abnormal, irrational fear of clowns. Let me repeat that…

… Fear of Clowns!!

I’m sure this is a completely rational and valid psychological condition, possibly brought on by a really bad Bozo experience as a small child, or a visit to the Circus went terribly wrong. Maybe they were forced to watch “IT” and–well, there you have it.

The owner of this website, ihateclowns.com, says that he doesn’t fear clowns at all. He adds, “They are just not nice people. They scare little kids, they cause neurosis in some adults, they have big floppy feet, they try to fit too many of their kind in a car, I could go on and on.”

To him I would say, “Get a grip. They are just clowns for christ’s sake!”

Any site that pays homage to the kitchen queen, Martha Stewart, instantly qualifies for induction into the weirdo hall-of-fame. In her own, Bed-Bath-&-Beyond kind of way, Martha exemplifies the word weird. Her celebrity defies explanation. She is about as bland as banana pudding without the banana.

The Ultimate Martha Stewart Collection is a hodge-podge of parody and a poke-fun-a-palooza about the ultimate clean freak. Stewart’s rise and fall from celebrity is well documented by all matter of media. So far, this is the best I have seen.

Come back next week for more of the Weird-Wide-Web.

    I don’t know why so many people dog on clowns. I love clowns!
